What To Watch During “One Of Those Days”

You know when sometimes you’re just having the WORST day even though there is nothing (ABSOLUTELY NOTHING) going on? You just want to cry every 5 seconds and that’s when every single person you see decides they should ask you “ARE YOU OKAY?” which is the worst question in the world. Maybe you didn’t sleep well or maybe it’s just been too long since the last time you cried, maybe your hormones are unbalanced I DON’T KNOW YOU.

Whatever it is you don’t even realize that something is going on until you are at work or around people. Well today Jazzy Jazz isn’t feeling so jazzy, she’s actually feeling like a psycho because she is having one of those days. BUT it reminded me of the shows that I love watching when I’m having days like these. The following are the TV shows that make me feel better when I’m feeling like a crazy person.

This will always be my #1 show to turn to when I’m having a crappy day because every episode is funny and can always force a laugh out of me even when it feels like the world is ending. Barney is my favorite because he’s just so… Barney (you know?)

Watching HIMYM reminds me of some of the things my friends and I have done or things that have happened to us when we’d be dating and those memories will forever crack me up. It’s such a feel good show that anyone could watch which is one of the best things about it. Watching Lilypad and Marshmallow be the cute goofy weird couple that everybody loves feels like a giant bear hug when I’m not feeling my 100% self.

There are so many awesome episodes it’s hard to pick which one is my favorite, but I LOVE every Intervention episode, those kill me.

How I Met Your Mother is one of those shows that makes you feel like you’ve got a bunch of personalities because let’s get real sometimes we can be Barney, Robin, Marshall, Lily and Ted all in just one week. We’ve been Barney during times when our BFF’S call someone ELSE their BEST FRIEND (SO not cool). Some days we’re hopeless romantic Ted getting tired of waiting for “The One” to come along even though he didn’t really have to look too far did he? We’ve all experienced being Lily and feeling like we missed our chance to follow our dreams. We’ve been goofy and loving Marshall and then there’s Robin. We’ve all been confused Robin before, always not knowing what she wants whether it’s about love interests or kids or basically anything aside from her career.

The minute I put it on all of the weirdness of a bad day just drifts away almost instantly.

 The Office

Jim and Pam. JIM AND PAM. I can’t even control the giddy love sick 15 year old version of myself that bursts out of my soul every time I’m watching a cute scene between these two adorable love puppy’s. It’s actually quite sickening to witness I’ll tell you that much. The Office makes bad days good days by being the comical genius that it is.

Michael’s constant need for approval from everyone is both sad and funny at the same time (but mostly funny). Dwight is HILARIOUS I get cramps from laughing at his interactions with Jim, I actually LOVE how much he hates him. It’s the funniest relationship pranks and all and it is probably the 2nd best thing about the show. The 1st obviously being JIM AND PAM because they’re the cutest and I LOVE THEM. The 3rd best thing is how much Michael hates Toby, poor poor lonely Toby. And what makes it worse (but also better) is how much he loves Pam even though she has a fiance AND she’s falling for Jimbo.

Obviously I love Kelly because Mindy Kaling is the bomb, although something about Ryan has always annoyed me. I think he’s the only character in the show that I never liked. Oh and Angela… but does anybody actually like Angela? Whenever Phyllis or Kevin say literally anything my heart fills up with joy, they’re the cutest and so weird that I find it impossible not to love them. Oh I forgot one more character I hate… Roy, F*ck Roy. He’s a D to Pam while they’re together and he is in the way of #JAM (#PIM?) happening sooner.

 Wynonna Earp

Do I even need to explain why this show is the best? Wynonna is the female version of Dean (Winchester duh) and her sister Waverly is the female Sam but a gayer prettier cuter BETTER version. Every time I’m having a bad day I just re watch a few episodes of Season 1 and EVERYTHING is okay once again.

Wynonna makes the best jokes and has the best comebacks that even Doc and Dolls don’t stand a chance against her wit. It’s a new show but you can feel the chemistry between the actors and their characters which makes it easier to lose yourself in. This show is one of the best for making you forget whatever it was you were upset about before pressing play (if there even was a reason). The relationship between Dolls and Wynonna is my FAVORITE and I always scream on the inside when Dolls flirts back at Wynonna (BACK because she ALWAYS flirts with him which usually gets ignored).

Now obviously I had to add Friends to this list, because EVERYBODY has seen it and loves it. My favorite character hands down is Joey, because Joey is always 100% unapologetic-ally himself. He’s funny, childish, kind of vain, air headed but oh so lovable. Everybody knows someone like a class clown that they love/hate and that is definitely Joey (except all I have for that man is love). Joey is constantly cracking the best jokes that always brighten my mood. I feel like he’s the embodiment of happy, they should just put his name under the definition of it.

Most days I think I’m probably 75% Rachel, 15% Phoebe, 5% Ross and 5% Chandler. I’m almost never any percent Monica because Imea I wouldn’t say I’m the worst at cooking but I’m certainly not the best. Plus I am not as mature as her and I am definitely not the Mom in any of my friends groups because TO BE HONEST that is way too much stress and work for my life. Every episode is so light hearted and funny that it’s probably the best to watch when you feel like everything sucks JUST BECAUSE (my family hates when I give that answer).

Hope I kept you entertained for a few minutes, even writing about these shows made me feel better.

Hope you can use this next time you’re having one of those days 🙂

Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany

Tatiana Maslany….

What has not been said about the amazing performances she has given us time and time again on Orphan Black?

She’s all the rave right now and rightfully so. How does one actually play 5 (there’s more, but 5 MAIN) different characters and 5 different personalities on a day to day basis?

How has she not lost her mind yet?

Can you imagine playing one person for a few hours and then having to switch up to play a whole different person and then again and again and again? Just picture this: You’re in the zone. You have the accent down, the mannerisms, the attitude and even a certain style of walk, and then you have to create a whole new person with different everything 4 times and play those people without faltering.

That’s INSANE. How has she not given herself Dissociative Identity Disorder?

I mean I know there are some amazing actors and actresses out there; Anne Hathaway, Robert De Niro, Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Daniel Day Lewis (can you believe he’s retiring??) and Meryl Streep to name a few.

But (in my opinion) nobody beats Maslany. She is officially my favorite actress/person in the world because I don’t think there is anybody who puts that much heart and effort into the character(s) that they play. Hell is there anyone out there who puts that much heart and effort into anything?

We’ve met so many different people but all in one extraordinary woman’s body and I am so thankful that I was introduced to this show because it has changed me.

Now when I say that .. please don’t think I’m one of those people who says that about every show (even though there is NOTHING wrong with them) I don’t mean that Orphan Black changed me (even though IT IS high on my top 5 favorite shows list), but Tatiana’s performance on it did.

Maslany taught me that you shouldn’t just drift through work, you gotta have a passion for it and you have to work hard. You should be doing something that makes it easy to love so that it’s possible for you to give it your all selflessly.

Through her roles she inspired me to always try to be better than I was the day before.

Work harder, learn more and evolve quicker.

She did that all by acting in the “little Canadian show” that ended up being so complex and intriguing that it surpassed everyone’s expectations. She was born to play these roles, and she will continue to play amazing roles in the future now that (sadly) Orphan Black is coming to an end.

I know so far I’ve given 100% of the credit to Maslany, but there is one person that I don’t think is ever mentioned enough: Kathryn Alexandre. She’s the woman’s face you never see, but who helps Tatiana make the show what it is. She is the stunt double for #CloneClub. She’s beautiful and talented and Tatiana would not be able to give us the amazing performances if it wasn’t for the wonderful Alexandre.

And then there’s Donnie (Kristian Bruun), Felix (Jordan Gavaris), Mrs. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) and of course Detective Art (Kevin Hanchard).

Oh yeah and I guess I shouldn’t forget the creatively intelligent writers who are the only reason the show even became a thing; John Fawcett & Graeme Manson. Those two are geniuses to the core and they have given us one of the best series of our time. I can’t wait to see their next brilliant creation.

Colossal is DEEP

There are times when you’re watching a movie and you just go…”Wow.” And that’s what this post is going to be about: a movie that made me go “WOW.”

One of my favorite movies that came out this year would have to be Colossal, not only because of the comical way it portrays alcoholism, or because of the dark path it ends up taking right before the end, but because of the visual effects. I should be honest and mention that though I do not agree with the way the media portrays alcoholic women compared to alcoholic men, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Anne Hathaway deal with the wreckage that had become her life.

You know sometimes I imagine what kind of destruction people do when they drink too much, but NOTHING compares to the mess that Gloria (Anne Hathaway) makes when she’s drunk at the park. Sure, the BIG problem is halfway across the globe so who cares right? Ummm well…. That’s not cool for the people of beautiful Seoul who now have to deal with A MONSTER. Like a GIANT RAWR TALLER THEN SKYSCRAPERS OUT OF THIS WORLD KIND OF MONSTER.

I know it doesn’t look very mean does it? Looks hilarious and in a weird way a little bit cute.

The monster is the embodiment of Gloria’s blackouts… a symbol of the destruction Gloria has caused in her own life through her alcohol addiction. Now this, this is something I know about and something that I can relate to. Alcoholics are the most common type of person in my very large, very crazy (but very loving) family. God must’ve shaken our screws loose before setting us up on planet earth because we are freaks and we ruin everything. Well… I don’t (obviously because I’m perfect… just kidding). I think this movie is super underrated because it can speak to anyone since everybody kinda has to deal with that question (am I drinking too much?) at some point in their lives.

Like for instance: everybody in their early 20’s… YOU’RE ALL ALCOHOLICS. And trust me I know this to be true because I have been one of you. If all you do every weekend (and most week days… looking at you fresh college kids in your first year) is binge drink and blackout you’re just asking for trouble. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging, I’m in my early 20’s… I have plenty of friends who do it too. But why the hell is that our version of fun? Maybe it’s just me but last time I checked the definition of fun wasn’t the room spinning and me spewing out pizza I ordered 5 hours ago all over some random bathroom at 3 AM. So why do we do it over and over and over again? Make your own mistakes, don’t listen to your parents and we can make our own choices. Yeah yeah yeah…WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL SH💙T THAT IS. Gloria has taught me that blackouts are the Universe’s way of telling you, you’ve got a problem dude maybe it’s time to get your sh💙t together.

And there’s always gotta be that one (or two, three, five, 100th) GUY that just wants to RUIN YOUR LIFE by trying to get you to stay in your small town forever with him so you can both live a happily drunk and stupid/worthless life together. Well… Oscar (Jason Sudeikis) that’s you. I thought you and Gloria were old friends huh? Don’t you want her to BE BETTER? Don’t you want her to quit drinking and do something with her life? Don’t you want her to move back to New York to be happy again? NOPE! NO YOU DON’T. BECAUSE YOU’RE JUST A BUTT WHO NEVER LEFT YOUR HOMETOWN WHO IS JEALOUS AND YOU HATE YOUR LIFE SO YOU WANT EVERYONE ELSE TO HATE THEIR LIVES TOO BECAUSE YOU SUCK SIR!

Can you tell I’ve dated a couple guys like Oscar? (minus the fists at the end THANK GOD)

Anyway what I really wanted to talk about was the AMAZING visual effects done by the awesome Intelligent Creatures because HAVE YOU SEEN THE MONSTER AND ROBOT?! THEY LOOKED UNREAL (actually they looked super real, which is sort of my point) I liked that when one of the creatures would pop up, lightning would first show up and then the monster/robot would appear. The Robot was stunning and the Monster looked magical, I was thoroughly impressed. It didn’t feel like a cartoon movie even though there were monsters in it, it felt like it was a real adult movie (which it is) because of the content of the movie, but also because of the visual effects done to make both creatures look so believably real.

There was a scene with Oscar and Gloria fighting, and the image switches to the monster and robot fighting each other (because Gloria is connected to the Monster, and Oscar is connected to the Robot) and I was surprised at the level of detail and work put into it. I can’t imagine how long it took them to put that scene together (hint: it took a while) but I’m glad they did. The fight scenes were not my favorite just because who likes watching sh💙tty men beat up awesome women? Nobody. But I was really shocked that we saw that so far towards the end instead of in the beginning or middle. Usually you already hate the guy because early on you get a glimpse of why they’re being portrayed as the villain. I liked the way the movie was formatted, it was interesting because there aren’t really any other movies like that out there yet.

Colossal is the best kind of Rom Com because it’s not all fairy-tales and rainbows, it’s real life (you know… aside from the giant monster and robot). Alcoholism is real and there are real people in the real world who REALLY struggle with it. Domestic abuse is real and there are plenty of Women (& men) who deal with it on a daily basis because they are too (scared, in love, think it’ll never happen again, etc) worried about the repercussions that would follow if they’d face the situation (call the police, pack up and leave, anything really). We watched Gloria deal with disappointments, regrets, depression, physical & emotional abuse and ultimately we watched her pull herself out from the depths of everyone’s disapproval and win the day. I enjoyed watching Anne Hathaway’s performance and was in awe of the way Gloria stood up to Oscar in the end, and took back control and saved the good people of Seoul (and herself). It teaches women that yes we’re not perfect, yes we’re screwed up: but we can move on and fix ourselves and be damned any man who can’t handle that.

It broke my heart to watch Gloria try to protect Seoul after she accidentally killed a bunch of people (by falling down in the park- the monster falling on buildings and people) while she was drunk.

Gloria is someone we can look up to because she’s just like us, flaws and all, but she ends up finding herself as she tries to figure out how tiny insignificant her could impact an entire country halfway across the world. And in the end she saves the day and she did it without a man by her side, which is good because the only men in her life had caused seriously effed up problems for her.

I applaud Colossal and all it stands for.

*PLEASE WATCH THIS AWESOME MOVIE & than let me know what you thought of it 🙂

Star Wars: Fell In Love With It I did

Yoda: Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.

The time has come for me to admit something that I’ve been hiding for a very long time. Something that only my closest family and friends know. Something dark…very dark.

Luke Skywalker: Alright. I’ll give it a try.

Yoda: No. Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.

I was obsessed with Star Wars.

Star Wars is the one that really stole my heart… and broke it all at the same time.

Yoda: A Jedi’s strength flows from the Force. But beware the Dark Side. Anger, fear, and aggression; the Dark Side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight.

I remember there was a time, I think I was about 12 years old, that I would come home everyday after school for (literally) half a year and watch the same damn episode (The Empire Strikes Back). EVERY DAY FOR HALF A YEAR. That’s approximately 182 days. FOR 182 DAYS I WATCHED THE SAME MOVIE. Who does that?

Alas, the fun had to end because one terrible horrible (but thank GOD for it) night I had a nightmare that I, Princess Leia got shot by one of Darth Vader’s stupid storm troopers. After that my mother (thanks mom) banned me from watching it for a couple years at least.

It’s pretty embarrassing to admit that I liked it THAT much, but it’s even worse to admit I still re-watch those first three a few times a year.

Though the visual effects weren’t what they are today, those movies were and still are incredible. The whole world fell in love with the series and I have been following it my entire life, and so have most people. And even if you can find someone who doesn’t like the old ones, 99% (I’m not sure how accurate that is, but just go with it) of the time if you ask someone if they’ve seen one of the new episodes of Star Wars the answer is YES. Because you can’t just not watch Star Wars your entire life… unless you’re my sisters of course (I seriously don’t know how they’ve survived this long without watching it).

The basis of this post is this: Star Wars rules!

Han Solo: You like me because I’m a scoundrel. There aren’t enough scoundrels in your life.

And it always will 🙂

Luke: I can’t. It’s too big.

Yoda: Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship.

Sincerely yours,

Jazzy Jazz

Westworld VS Westworld

Have you ever wanted to know what it would feel like to visit an amusement park where you could do whatever you wanted? Be who ever you wanted?

We know your fantasies, we know everything that happens in your deepest darkest dreams… and we’re making them all a reality.

Welcome to Westworld 2.0 my friends.

We’ve got horses, we’ve got prostitutes and we’ve got guns…lots and lots of guns.

HBO’s Westworld feels like it’s new, but it’s based on the 1973 film Westworld, and the major theme in both of them is this: technology vs humanity.

I think it was the perfect time for the TV show to be released last year because technology has evolved incredibly since the 70’s (were computers even a thing back then?) The robots are smarter, the settings look cooler and the guests are way more wicked.

I find the biggest difference between the movie and show is the visual effects. There are 44 years between the two and it shows when you’re looking at the difference in how the robots look, how much more vibrant the scenes are, and in the way that the robots move.

Another huge difference between the two is that the show makes the main characters the robots, while the movie mostly focuses on the humans who are visiting the park. The show gives more of a backstory to each robot and it’s obvious to the viewer that there is more to them than meets the eye. Are they capable of consciousness? Do they feel real emotions? Do they remember things? Could they be more like us than we know?

The TV show does a good job of getting us to feel empathy for the robots because they are more emotionally intelligent. While the movie makes it seem like the robots are emotionless and detached, you can tell that they don’t have a real “soul”.

Both the movie and TV show explores what it means to be human and how people act when they are told that they can have or do or be anything they want. What would be the worst thing that you’d do if you had the power? If Westworld were real; would you fire away at a bunch of human look-alike’s just to know what it feels like to kill people? Seriously… WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

One of the biggest differences that I enjoy the most is that the show gives you more of a look behind closed doors, it introduces the creators and gives you an idea of who they are and what their main goals are with the park. I think it’s also really cool when they show the engineers playing with the robots and how they program them (like when Maeve Millay tricked the two nerdy engineers to do her bidding for her and change her programming). The movie does show a bit of this, but it’s mostly just picking up dead robot bodies at the end of each day. We don’t see if they have any emotional connection with any of the robots.

Even though the robots are way more realistic in the show, the adaptation doesn’t differ from the movies only rule: robots can die, guests cannot.

But… in both the movie and the show sh💙t hits the fan and robots do end up being able to kill real people.

The Season 2 premiere date has still not yet been released, but it’s most likely that it will premiere in 2018.

Let me know which adaptation you liked best, and what you think of the series so far 🙂
